My Favorite fairytale has always been the story of Rapunzel. My mom would tell me the story as I was laying on the top bunk letting my hair fall over the edge imagining that it was long enough to reach the ground just like it did in the story. Maybe it is because I’ve always had long hair but something about that story always caught my attention and had been my favorite so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard there was going to finally be a Disney movie on Rapunzel. The little girl in me was so excited to watch the movie I rushed to the theater as soon as it came out and loved every bit of it.
This last weekend I was able to experience my own little slice of the Rapunzel fairytale in real life at the Lantern Fest. I saw the Ad for the event and Morgan was game so we purchased tickets and marked our calendars. The Fest had to be rescheduled because of weather so I ended up running a half marathon and going to the fest all in the same day but I didn’t mind one bit.
The fest was a little chilly, we could have used a blanket or two more while waiting for the wind to die down so we could launch our lanterns but overall it was a great experience. Morgan and I sat in our lawn chairs, laughed at people, sipped hot chocolate, hid under the blanket, talked and waited for the green light to launch our lanterns. Once we got the okay to launch our
lanterns, I actually accidentally caught our first lantern on fire so that one didn’t get launched but Morgan let me launch the second one. It took a few tries but it was so incredible to participate in such a cool event and have a little slice of fairytale become reality, even if it wasn’t in a canoe out in the middle of a lake 😉 ill take it.
What was your favorite childhood story?
